The Future of Yancey County Starts With Us
Yancey County is changing, and the question is whether we will shape that change or simply react to it. Our mountains, communities, businesses, farms, neighborhoods, and people are what make this county special. Moving forward does not mean losing what we value. It means planning carefully for housing, infrastructure, local businesses, recovery, and future growth. I believe Yancey’s future should be shaped here, with community input leading the way. We may not agree on every issue, but we can listen, challenge ideas, look at the facts, and work toward practical solutions. The future of Yancey belongs to all of us, and we need to move forward together.
Growth can bring opportunity, but growth without a plan can create problems that last for generations. Development should fit Yancey—not force Yancey to fit development. That means considering roads, housing, water, wastewater, emergency access, neighboring property owners, and the character of our communities before decisions are made. My experience in construction, land, wastewater, property rehabilitation, and site development has shown me how decisions made on paper eventually affect people on the ground. I am not against growth. I believe in responsible growth that creates value while respecting the people, land, and communities that make Yancey County home.
